What makes a website rank and bring in calls?
A local business website has two jobs: show up when people search for what you do, and get those people to call or fill in a form. Most small-business sites are built to look good and do neither job well.
To rank, a page has to match one search clearly. That’s why a site built for local SEO has a separate page for each service, with the service and your area in the title and main heading. Google’s ranking factor surveys back this up: Whitespark’s 2026 survey lists “dedicated page for each service” and keywords in the landing page’s title and headings among the website factors that matter most for the map pack.
Google also has to be able to read the page. If your text, links or phone number only appear after JavaScript runs, some crawlers miss them. AI tools like ChatGPT and Perplexity mostly don’t run JavaScript at all. We build pages where everything that matters is in the HTML from the start.
What turns visitors into calls
- Your phone number, everywhere. In the header, in a sticky bar on phones and on every service page, as a tap-to-call link.
- Short forms. A name, a phone number and what you need. Long forms lose leads.
- Proof near every button. Real reviews, real photos of your work and your face. No stock photos.
- Speed. Google’s Core Web Vitals measure how fast the main content loads, how quickly the page responds and whether it jumps around. We aim for “good” on mobile, then stop. Past that point, speed is a tie-breaker, not a ranking lever.
Built to match your Google Business Profile
The page your Google Business Profile links to, usually the homepage, should say the same thing as the profile: the same name, phone number, hours, services and towns. We plan the site around your profile’s categories and services, so the two support each other instead of competing.
What's included in web design?
-
A page for every service
Each service on your Google Business Profile gets its own page with its own keyword, so Google can match you to more searches.
-
Built to be read
Every heading, paragraph, phone number and link is in the page's HTML, so Google, Bing and AI tools that don't run JavaScript all see the same thing.
-
Speed that passes Google's test
We build for "good" Core Web Vitals on mobile, Google's own measure of loading, responsiveness and layout stability.
-
Calls and forms on every page
Tap-to-call in the header and a sticky mobile bar, plus short quote forms that send every lead into your CRM with the page and source it came from.
-
Local SEO built in
Title tags, headings, schema markup, a sitemap, clean URLs and your name, number and hours matching your Google Business Profile.
-
Tracking from day one
Google Search Console, Bing Webmaster Tools and Google Analytics 4 set up, with form and call events, before launch.
-
Moving an old site safely
If you're replacing a site, we map every old URL to its new one with a single 301 redirect so you keep the rankings you've earned.
How much does web design cost?
The price of a website depends on how many pages it needs, whether you're moving from an old site and how much of the writing we do. Sites built with an ongoing local SEO plan cost less up front than standalone builds.
See every plan and what it includes on our local SEO pricing page.
How long until you see results?
A typical small-business site takes a few weeks from kickoff to launch, most of it spent on content and photos.
Google usually starts indexing a new site within days of the sitemap being submitted. Rankings for competitive searches take months and depend on reviews, links and your Google Business Profile as much as on the site.
Why Ramp Local SEO for web design?

- Every site is planned around your Google Business Profile categories and services, not a template.
- You own your domain, your site and your content. No lock-in.
- You work with Gabriel directly, start to finish.
Website Design & Development FAQs
How much does a website for a small business in Lansing cost?
It depends on the number of pages, whether you're moving from an old site and who writes the content. Our Pricing page shows how our plans work, and the free audit tells you what your site actually needs.
Do you build on WordPress?
We pick the platform that suits the business. For most service businesses that's a fast static site that's cheap to host and hard to break. If you need to edit pages yourself every week, we'll talk through the trade-offs.
Will a new website hurt my Google rankings?
Not if the move is done right. We redirect every old URL to its new page with a single 301 redirect, keep the content that ranks and check Search Console after launch.
Why does my website need a separate page for each service?
Each page can target one search, like "furnace repair" or "estate planning lawyer", and match one service on your Google Business Profile. One page listing ten services rarely ranks for any of them.
Can you just redesign my current site?
Yes. Sometimes the fastest win is fixing the pages you have. The free audit includes a quick website check, so you'll know which option makes sense.
